Sun Smart volunteer, melanoma survivor, and runner Stacey Escalante brought sun safety and skin cancer prevention to trail runners at the 2016 Ragnar Trail Tahoe at Royal Gorge July 22-23. For two days runners were able to visit the Sun Smart Nevada tent to slather on SPF 30 sport sunscreen before and after their legs of the relay race. They also learned more about how to stay safe in the sun, especially while out running, such as wearing a hat and putting on sunglasses. Stacey’s first person story of surviving skin cancer served as a compelling example of why prioritizing sun safety should be on everyone’s mind, regardless of age or skin tone.
We can’t wait to bring our sunscreen dispensers and Sun Smart Nevada message to more events like this one. We had a blast!
